The lime-formation-process in the nature of corals is reproduced in the aquarium by supply of Calcium / Calciumhydrogencarbonat. To this, the formation-process is inverted, i.e., instead of like, to form a skeleton with the living animal through depositing of CO2, it is done available by dissolving of a lime-substratum again. Here is obvious to fall back exactly on the substratum, which we want to form again: Coral-skeletons, which consist mainly of Calciumcarbonat. A certain " phosphate-hysteria " following is offered miscellaneous substitute-preparations, which should rescue no phosphate-danger, in the trade something is with other materials? If one can go out in the nature of it, that no poison-materials are stored, since corals themselves would not at all thrive with existence of the same in the coral-reef, this is not guaranteed with technically produced materials. The different purity-classes give information here. Let's pursue these at the example of Calciumcarbonat once, detailed product-definitions of the material-manufacturers give information here: Calciumcarbonat Suprapur: here, materials come like for example copper and aluminum in no higher concentration before as in the sea (under 0,05 ppms). OK? Unfortunately no, costs time 1.000 g Z. barely from this even with decrease of bigger quantities € 600,-- (in words: Twelve-hundreds Euros). The filling of our C 1500 became settle therefore € 1.800,-- + VAT costs (= about 2.200 US-$). Therefore " simpler " qualities, "reinst" as well as " DAB " (pharmacie-purely) sounds trust-awakening, also the price comes into financier-pure regions. OK? Again no. When more exact looking, one determines that the impurity-participation of " ppm " (parts per million) full "%" has yielded. That sees then in roughly from (mix-statements <) : copper 0,0025%, lead 0,0003%, arsenic 0,0003%, heavy metals 0,001% etc half so wild? 1 kg possesses 1.000 gs as is known, that in each case 1.000 mgs, therefore 1 million mg/kg. 0,0025% from this at the example copper yields 25 mg coppers therefore. One dissolve 1 kg completely therefore (expletive-volumes C 1500 for example 3 kg), also the included "foreign-materials " become with brought in. After corresponding literature becomes with one (for invertebrates intolerable) copper-treatment the aquarium per 100 ls at copper 0,1 gs added. The above-mentioned lime-reactor-filling would be therefore (immediate complete dissolution of course presupposed) after all as little dot-medication " good ". As well, it behaves with the other "additives" of course. Not to forget, above implementations refer to pharmacist-pure qualities, which still with almost cost DM 30,--/ kg (about 19 US $). If one chooses even cheaper "versions", also a multiple of above heavy metals and others is contained. As resume, we would like to hold on our opinion therefore: that perhaps in low
quantities
in the coral-break included phosphate stands in no relationship to the
materials, which are contained in not ultra-expensive "Suprapur"
qualities.
One must be itself in the clear, that these materials are solved with
the
main-material Calciumcarbonat slowly and are supplied to the aquarium
continuously!
